| Cinematology: An Introduction introduces cinema as an art form, experience, and institution to 1) film majors; 2) college students who are taking an introductory course in film as an elective; and 3) film buffs who would like to formally study cinema. It initiates these students to the diverse forms, styles, production processes and contexts of narrative, documentary, and experimental films. The course then delves deeper into the specificities of cinema as an art form by studying its elements, language, tools, and media. It then expands its discussion to contemporary Philippine cinema and its place in world cinema and film history. Ultimately, the course empowers the students in analyzing cinematic discourse and in making their own films. | |
